WHY THE REFRACT EXISTS
When the same event makes headlines in France, the US, China, and Turkey, it is told four different ways. The facts are the same, but the framing, the context, the omissions -- everything changes. And most of us only ever read one version.
The Refract was born from this observation. We believe that understanding an international event requires seeing its multiple refractions -- like white light revealing its colors as it passes through a prism.

A world where everyone can identify the geographic biases in the media they consume. Not to reject information, but to read it with discernment. We don't claim to offer the truth -- we give you the tools to seek it yourself, with full awareness.

All our analyses are AI-generated. We always label them as such, with original sources accessible.
NO ALLEGIANCE
AI has no nationality. It applies the same analytical framework to each country, without editorial favoritism.

What we promise is analytical consistency -- not impartiality. We make biases visible, not invisible.
WHO WE ARE
The Refract is a project of EURL ATHIDE, a company based in France. It is driven by a conviction: artificial intelligence, used with rigor and transparency, can offer analytical consistency that traditional journalism -- by nature anchored in a national context -- cannot guarantee alone.
Our approach is detailed on our Methodology page. The AI we use is not impartial -- no tool is. But it has no national allegiance. It is this absence of anchoring that makes it powerful for multi-perspective analysis.
OUR COMMITMENT
All our analyses are generated by artificial intelligence and we clearly label them as such. Each perspective is accompanied by its sources so you can verify for yourself. We don't claim objectivity: we make biases visible.
