A software engineer, Brice created The Refract in 2026 with one conviction: understanding international news requires seeing how each country tells it, not just your own version. He designs and maintains the site's editorial pipeline — collecting press coverage from dozens of countries, comparative analysis, quality gates.
As publication director (The Refract is published by the French company ATHIDE), he takes editorial responsibility for everything published: story selection, validation of the analyses, corrections.
The Refract does not employ journalists in every country: our analyses are generated by artificial intelligence from each country's national press, which is cited and verifiable. Humans define the methodology, select the stories and validate every edition before publication.
How this works is documented in detail in our methodology, including its limits. We would rather be a small team that is transparent about its tools than an illusion of a global newsroom.
