Where it breaks apart

• — What comes first: economic record or irregularities — The hierarchy of information clearly separates the coverages. Paris and Pretoria open with the outgoing president's economic track record — restructured debt, falling inflation, jobs created, 2033 sovereign bond at 97.72 cents, IMF programme in sight — and address the arrests later. Berlin and Accra invert the order: the election is first described as marred by irregularities and followed by a wave of arrests, with economic performance appearing only in the background or not at all. The same electoral result thus produces two narratives that are difficult to reconcile.
• — Status accorded to opposition arrests — Berlin retains the official qualification of 'militia activity' and puts it in tension with the election's course. Accra juxtaposes the two sequences — decisive victory on one side, overnight raid on the other — without explicitly linking them, and gives the floor to Mundubile, who speaks of gunfire in his presence. Kigali and Dodoma stick to the official account, without characterizing the nature of the alleged acts.
• — Existence itself of a regional stake — Dodoma is the only country whose coverage carries a direct challenge: in response to President Samia Suluhu Hassan's protocol message of congratulations, a Tanzanian community platform echoes an accusation from the Zambian opposition that men recruited in Tanzania had been sent to support the ruling power. No other coverage mentions a regional dimension: Pretoria itself, a neighbour and leading economic partner, does not connect the election to South African interests.
