Dharmendra Pradhan, India's Education Minister, resigned on Saturday, July 25, citing his responsibility for the leak of the NEET-UG medical entrance exam that forced approximately two million candidates to retake the competition
The youth movement 'Cockroach Janta Party,' born from this fraud and subsequent student suicides, claims the resignation as a victory after several weeks of mobilization at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi
Pralhad Joshi is serving as interim Education Minister following Pradhan's departure, accepted by President Droupadi Murmu
Some perspectives present the resignation as a clear and complete victory for Indian youth, while others emphasize that only part of the CJP's demands (compensation, total immunity for protesters) remain unanswered and question the real scope of the government's commitments.

The language used by Pradhan to justify his departure, evoking the risk that 'anti-national forces' might exploit the crisis, is largely repeated neutrally by several outlets, while others see it as a rhetorical device meant to shift responsibility away from the government.

Bangladesh press explicitly links this episode to a broader wave of youth uprisings that toppled governments in Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Bangladesh, a regional perspective largely absent from other national coverage.

India's education minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned on Saturday 25 July 2026, after more than a month of protests in New Delhi led by the Cockroach Janta Party movement. President Droupadi Murmu accepted his resignation the same day; Pralhad Joshi takes over the ministry on an interim basis. The unrest began after the leak of the NEET-UG 2026 medical entrance exam paper, which forced around 2.27 million candidates to resit the test on 21 June. The government announced it was dropping charges against protesters and would compensate the families of students who died by suicide. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke claimed victory for the movement before protesters gathered at Jantar Mantar.
