DOMINANT ANGLE

Rome is hosting, at the US embassy, the seventh round of indirect Israel-Lebanon talks - a hosting role that the Italian press is highlighting, even as it takes a backseat to the military assessment announced the same day by the Israeli side.

BIASES AND FRAMING IDENTIFIED

Diplomatically focused framing: the emphasis on Rome as the host city for the talks may downplay the severity of the military assessment reported on the same day.

Preference for the Israeli military version: details on the soldiers killed and the raids come primarily from Israeli military statements, without a direct Lebanese counterpoint in the Italian press pool.

Limited coverage of the humanitarian and judicial aspects: the Italian press pool makes no mention of displaced Lebanese civilians or the investigation into the death of journalist Amal Khalil, which are included in other coverage of the issue.
