By late July 2026, Texas-based company Greenland Energy, linked to Donald Trump's circle, had unloaded drilling equipment on Greenland's east coast, at Nunap Qeqqa (Jameson Land), near Nerlerit Inaat airport, without local authorities' permission. On July 30, the Greenlandic government issued a strong warning to the company, requiring that all future logistical operations be reported and approved in advance, and postponed the planned exploratory drilling. Drilling has not begun: the equipment remains stored, pending an environmental impact study and required permits.
