BIASES AND FRAMING IDENTIFIED

Diplomatically focused framing: the coverage highlights the sensitive timeline of Xi Jinping's planned visit to Washington in September rather than a direct confrontation with Bessent's statements

Limited coverage of the Iranian stance: the articles do not include the official reaction of the Iranian government or its threats of military retaliation mentioned elsewhere

Preference for official data: CGTN and SCMP rely on Chinese customs statistics and direct quotes from US officials rather than comments from China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs
