DOMINANT ANGLE

Berlin is closely watching an escalation that has already affected three Gulf allies hosting American bases - Kuwait, Jordan, and Bahrain - as a ballistic analysis, reported on by Reuters, suggests the deadly strike on the Iranian wedding was linked to American munitions rather than a stray Iranian missile.

Detached Technico-Military Framing

Canada, Germany, and France provide a detailed technico-military framing of the escalation — quantified cost of war for Washington, ballistic expertise on the origin of the deadly strike, precise inventory of targeted systems on Kuwait and Emirates bases — while giving little voice to the capitals of the affected Gulf states.

BIASES AND FRAMING IDENTIFIED

Germany's perspective focuses on Washington's Gulf allies, with its coverage highlighting Kuwait, Jordan, and Bahrain, hosts of US military bases, without mentioning the United Arab Emirates or Oman in this context.

The initial explanation is being questioned: a ballistic expertise cited by Handelsblatt attributes the wedding explosion to American munitions rather than a stray Iranian strike.
