Russian media outlets RT and TASS are constructing a coherent narrative presenting Ukraine as a destabilizing and aggressive actor in international relations. Emphasis is placed on Ukrainian threats against European leaders (Orban), alleged corruption (convoys of money and gold), and obstruction in energy negotiations. This framing aims to delegitimize Kyiv as a reliable partner for Europe, particularly with allies like Hungary that maintain a more nuanced position on the conflict.

The tone adopted is accusatory and alarmist concerning Ukraine, but factual and neutral for energy-related subjects involving partners like India and Romania. Russian media systematically amplify Western criticisms of American policies (Australian senator criticizing alignment with Trump) to fuel the narrative of a divided West and American hegemony contested even by its allies.

The silences are revealing: no mention of the geopolitical reasons justifying Ukrainian positions, no analysis of the humanitarian impacts of energy disruptions, and complete omission of the context of Russian aggression that motivates Ukrainian reactions. Western sanctions against Russian companies like Lukoil are presented solely from the angle of difficulties they create for European countries.

The narrative framing clearly positions Russia as a stable and reliable energy power (supplying India), facing Ukraine presented as chaotic and threatening, and a hypocritical and divided West. This media construction serves Russian strategic interests by indirectly justifying military intervention while presenting Moscow as a predictable partner for emerging non-Western powers.
