BIASES AND FRAMING IDENTIFIED

The German media frames the event as an attempted coup, whereas the French version describes it as a mutiny without a change in the existing power structure

The role of Russia in the crackdown is downplayed: the presence of Russian mercenaries at the base is mentioned, but the articles do not indicate whether they intervened in the fighting

The German accounts rely almost exclusively on the dpa agency: both German versions of the event cite the same field reporter as their sole source
