BIASES AND FRAMING IDENTIFIED

The United States government is focused on individual rescue efforts, with the story detailing the identity and condition of the two survivors while hundreds of others missing from the same site remain an aggregate number.

« Officials identified the two men as a mechanical foreman and a mechanical supervisor. »

The US authorities rely on information from Nepalese authorities and the professional association, with the site's numerical reports coming exclusively from official spokespersons and the IPPAN, without cited independent verification.

« At least 557 workers are missing from the Trishuli 3A hydropower project along the Trishuli River, with about 115 believed to be trapped in the main tunnel, according to the Independent Power Producers Association of Nepal. »

Two national tallies coexist without reconciliation: the total number of dead and missing varies depending on whether the article cites Thursday's or Friday's bulletin, without the US press explicitly noting the discrepancy.

« At least 1,204 people were killed last week as waters carrying ice, mud and rock swept over houses, streets and schools in towns and villages near the country’s border with China’s Tibet. More than 4,200 people are still missing and thousands more displaced. »
