BIASES AND FRAMING IDENTIFIED

Nepal's official reports are relied upon: the numerical assessments published come almost exclusively from the Disaster Management Authority, reproduced without independent verification in the corpus.

« According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, this number of bodies had been found as of 9 a.m. Tuesday. »

The government's defense is presented without contradiction: the only in-depth interview in the corpus features the Foreign Minister, who refutes any state sluggishness without a direct contradictor in the article.

« There was absolutely no delay or rigidity on our part. »
kathmandupost.com ↗

Framing national solidarity: several short articles report on donations from local communities and present the disaster as a burden shared by the entire country.

« the Bhotekoshi flood is not only the plight of a particular region or community but a common tragedy to entire nation »
