ANALYSIS
Moscow, October 27, 2026. The Russian press is treating Anthropic's filing as a sober financial dispatch, focused on the mechanics of the operation and profitability figures, without editorial commentary. Sputnik, in its English edition, recalls that the company filed a Form S-1 with the SEC on Monday, October 26, related to its "proposed initial public offering" of Class A common stock. The shares would be listed on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the symbol ANT. The number of shares offered and the price range have not yet been determined, the company specifies.
Sputnik puts the announcement into a timeline: in June, Anthropic had announced that it had confidentially submitted an IPO application. The agency cites the Financial Times, which reports that the valuation could reach "$2,000 billion or more" at the time of listing, making the operation the largest in history. It also presents the company, founded in 2021 and based in San Francisco, as the creator of the Claude family of large language models.
Vedomosti, an economic daily, reiterates the same announcement with more financial data. It quotes the company: it intends to place its Class A shares on the Nasdaq under the ticker ANT, exclusively through a prospectus. The daily emphasizes that the registration statement submitted to the SEC has not yet taken effect. It then recalls that on October 15, Bloomberg wrote that Anthropic's quarterly revenue had increased by 50% to $16.8 billion before the planned IPO.
Still according to Bloomberg, as relayed by Vedomosti, the adjusted gross margin stands at 85% and the adjusted operating margin exceeds 11%. These indicators form the core of the Russian economic reading: rapid growth and profitability even before listing.
The newspaper adds a competitive aspect: Anthropic could overtake OpenAI, which plans to go public in 2027 after a postponement. According to Vedomosti, OpenAI explains this change in schedule by its focus on the security issues of AI technologies. The competition between American labs is thus described by the stock market calendar rather than by technology.
In both articles, the sources are Western (Anthropic's press release, Financial Times, Bloomberg) and no official Russian reaction is cited.
