ANALYSIS
Berlin, October 27, 2026. The German economic press is treating the filing of Anthropic's prospectus as a test of confidence for the entire AI sector, rather than as an event specific to the company.
For the Tagesschau, the San Francisco group "gives the starting signal for a mega-IPO": it has filed its documents with the SEC, the American stock market regulator, with a view to listing in November. The 333-page prospectus does not specify the number of shares or the price. The Tagesschau writes that the operation could take place as early as the week of November 16, that the investor presentation tour would start the week of November 9, and that, according to press reports, the valuation could reach $2 billion, or 2,000 billion. The title would be listed on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the symbol "ANT", with Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley as lead managers. New shares from a capital increase and existing shareholders' securities would be placed together.
The public media recalls the context: Anthropic, best known for its Claude model, was co-founded in 2021 by Dario Amodei, who previously worked at OpenAI, and is now its main competitor. The article title also emphasizes that the company "warns of risks", which the prospectus devotes to the technology itself.
The Handelsblatt adopts a market reading. In its review of Monday's session, it writes that the filing, which took place on the same day, supported the mood on Wall Street: the Dow Jones gained 0.3% to 52,362 points, the S&P 500 0.7% to 7,677 points, the Nasdaq 0.8% to 26,169 points, and the Nasdaq 100 1.1% to 29,273 points. The daily newspaper judges the introduction as "an important mood test for the entire AI market". It notes that the prospectus does not provide a specific date or target valuation, that the listing is expected by the end of the year at the latest, and that the valuation could be at a level close to that of the space company SpaceX. The introduction of the major rival OpenAI is announced for the following year.
The two sources agree on the magnitude of the operation, the Tagesschau estimating that it "should be one of the largest IPOs of all time".
