The Peruvian press is highlighting a dual event that occurred the same weekend in Russia: the announced victory of the Kremlin's party in the legislative elections and the largest Ukrainian drone attack ever recorded on its soil. According to Diario Correo, United Russia, the party linked to Vladimir Putin, is in the lead with 57.31% of the votes after counting 17.05% of the ballots, far ahead of the Russian Communist Party (13.89%), the Liberal Democratic Party (9.29%), New People (7.97%), and Fair Russia (5.09%). The leader of United Russia, Dmitri Medvedev, welcomed this score: "The citizens of our country maintain their trust in the main political force." The Central Electoral Commission reported a participation rate of over 56%, an increase compared to the 2016 and 2021 elections. However, the media notes that the opposition has denounced the electronic vote, where United Russia received 49.06% of the votes: the pacifist party Yabloko reported irregularities and difficulties in accessing paper ballots in certain polling stations.
