Warsaw, September 25, 2026. Following the state dinner hosted by Donald Trump for Xi Jinping, the Polish press is mainly focusing on what was not said. According to RMF24, the Chinese president mentioned a "historic moment" in Sino-American relations and claimed to have reached an agreement on "many issues" with Trump, without specifying which ones: the media emphasizes that "Xi did not mention the agreements concluded with the US president." Trump, on his part, did not provide further details on the signed text, instead stressing the personal relationship: the two countries, he said, "have never understood each other better," while recalling that Xi is the first Chinese leader to be received twice on a state visit to the United States.

Protocol takes up a significant part of the Polish account. Trump offered his guest a sculpture representing an American eagle perched on a branch; Xi, in public, did not present any gift in return. The two leaders extensively discussed the Sino-American alliance during World War II, presented as a shared historical foundation. Gazeta Prawna, citing a dispatch sent from Washington by Oskar Górzyński for the PAP agency, reports that Trump promised to show Xi documents and objects related to this shared history, and that he plans to host him next year in the ballroom under construction at the White House.

In substance, the announcements remain vague. Trump said he wants to discuss "more balanced" trade relations and what he calls "superintelligence," a term he now uses for artificial intelligence, assuring that the decisions made in these areas "could favor peace and prosperity for decades." No figures, no calendar accompany these statements. The dinner also brought together the leaders of Nvidia, Google, Apple, OpenAI, Microsoft, JPMorgan, and Boeing, a sign, for the Polish press, of the importance Washington attaches to the presence of its technological and financial giants around the table, even without a quantified agreement to announce.
