China: The 2026 Two Sessions Launch the 15th Five-Year Plan Under the Sign of Technological Self-Sufficiency

The annual sessions of the National People's Assembly, opened on March 4 and 5, 2026 in Beijing, mark the official launch of the 15th five-year plan (2026-2030). Prime Minister Li Qiang presented a GDP growth target of around 5%, a defense budget increase of 7%, and a roadmap centered on new productive forces and semiconductor self-sufficiency.
